The Emerald Ash Borer has been confirmed in five additional Wisconsin counties including neighboring Green Lake county. The Wisconsin Department of Ag, Trade and Consumer Protection says adult emerald ash borers were found in traps in the town of Green Lake, in the right of way along St. Marie Road just north of Highway 23, and in the town of Brooklyn, in Margaret Dodge Memorial Park. EAB has also been firmed in Waupaca and Waushara counties. EAB was first discovered in Wisconsin in 2008 in Washington County and has earlier been confirmed in Fond du Lac and Dodge counties. EAB decimates ash trees.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
