9-8-17 waupun historical museum future

todaySeptember 8, 2017

The Waupun city administrator says the common council may examine the possibility of assisting the Historical Society in making the city’s historical museum handicap accessible.  The Waupun Historical Society voted last month to close the James Laird museum on McKinley Street due to a lack of revenue to pay for operating expenses.  But city administrator and economic development director, Kathy Schlieve, says the city’s museum at the historic Carnegie Library building will continue to operate.  The question is what it would cost to make that building handicap accessible?  “We actually proposed to the council and they supported this effort to go about doing a broad master facilities plan,”  Schleive told WFDL news.  “…and that (Carnegie Library) will be one of the facilities that we look at.”
