Fond du Lac Republican state representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt says he plans to vote for the state budget when the Assembly takes it up this week. “I think what they (jt. finance committee) came up with is a pretty solid document,” Thiesfeldt told WFDL news. Thiesfeldt says he supports the two year spending plan that sends more aid to K-12 schools. Meanwhile Thiesfeldt says he’s pleased that funding was included to re-start the Highway 23 expansion between Fond du Lac and Plymouth. The project has been on hold following a lawsuit filed by the environmental group 1000 Friends of Wisconsin. Thiesfeldt says he expects that organization will continue to try to stop the project.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
