Fond du Lac Marian University’s Upward Bound Math and Science program has been renewed for a five year grant of nearly $1.32 million from the U.S Department of Education. This grant will allow the University to continue to prepare high school students for a college education, with emphasis on the fields of mathematics and science. The program will select 62 students from the Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac school districts annually. Participants are students who have a willingness to explore the STEM fields – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
