The Fond du Lac Area United Way has kicked off its 2017 fundraising campaign. United Way executive director Amber Kilawee says the goal is $770,000. Kilawee says the campaign started earlier this month at FondueFest followed by a Week of Caring. Fox Valley Savings Bank and Agnesian Healthcare are this year’s pacesetters.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
