The Mayville Police and Fire Commission is still searching for a new police chief after the interim chief rejected the city’s offer to become chief. Interim chief Ryan Vossekuil says under the offer he would have been subject to a 12 month probationary period and if he was removed from office during that time, for any reason, he would lose any benefits he had accrued over the last 15 years. Vossekuil also accuses an unnamed councilmember of having a vendetta against him and the department . Vossekuil says the councilmember is married to a former officer who was forced to resign following an investigation last year. Vossekuil was appointed interim chief after former chief Christopher MacNeill resigned earlier this year after being charged with misconduct in office and obstruction.
