There is little change in the area unemployment rates. The city of Fond du Lac’s jobless rate in August inched up a tenth of a percent to 3.4 percent. The Fond du Lac County rate was unchanged at three percent and the Dodge County unemployment rate is down ls slightly from three percent to two point nine percent.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
