The Fond du Lac County executive says he is still deciding what to do about maintenance at a popular county park. Al Buechel says he plans to unveil a proposed county budget in less than a month and at this point says he is still evaluating with the Parks director Sam Tobias on what steps should be taken at Hobbs Woods, located just south of Fond du Lac. “Sam has done some research, he’s taken a look at the grounds to see what type of fixes might be out there,” Beuchel told WFDL news. “One of the issues that some folks are pushing is to do a master plan for that park so we know what we want to spend in the future. The problem is that is a $40 million study.” Buechel says overuse combined with an extended wet period takes its toll on the trails. Buechel says the long term solution may be to purchase more park land to take pressure off Hobbs Woods. He says closing the park is not an option.
