Danette Halder of Winneconne is the lucky winner of the $140,000 jackpot from the Monday, September 11 Badger 5 drawing. Halder purchased her ticket at Condon Oil at 163 East Main Street in Omro. Halder’s ticket matched the winning numbers of 10, 11, 20, 21 and 23. Badger 5 is a daily lotto game available only in Wisconsin. Winners at all prize levels have 180 days from the drawing to claim their prizes by mail or in person at the Lottery’s Madison or Milwaukee office.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
