9-27-17 economic incentives package-fdl industry expansions

todaySeptember 26, 2017

The Fond du Lac County board has approved an economic incentive package to help two local businesses expand.  The board voted in favor of providing a four million dollar low interest loan to Mid-States Aluminum.  “Mid-States is planning a plant expansion, and they want to bring in some new extrusion equipment, which is going to be more than a half of the loan,”  County executive Al Buechel told WFDL news.   Buechel says the  expansion will create nearly 40 new jobs.  The board also approved a $1 million loan to help C.D. Smith Construction build a new company headquarters on the south end of Fond du Lac.  “They’re estimating it will be about an $11 million project.  Its just to have a brand new office complex that’s kind of a showpiece for the kind of work that they actually do,”  Buechel said.  Buechel says both projects are good news for the local economy.    “It lifts up the community not only from the standpoint of the income of the people working but the ability to support other things like cultural improvements and more capital improvement projects.  It just re-energizes a community as it moves forward.”
