9-28-17 dnr secretary-league of conservation voters

todaySeptember 27, 2017

The executive director of the League of Wisconsin Conservation Voters says she is hopeful  the new DNR secretary will be more independent of Governor  Scott Walker.  Walker announced this week the appointment of former Republican state representative Dan Meyer to the post.   League of  Wisconsin Conservation Voters director Kerry Schumann says Meyer’s  environmental record in the legislature was mixed.  “He didn’t vote very well on the environment, he actually had a lifetime score of 34 percent,”  Schumann told WFDL news.  “One thing that gives me a little bit of hope is that he several times voted in favor of having the DNR secretary be independent of the governor.”  Schumann says Meyer’s first test will be new manure pollution rules that were the subject of a DNR hearing earlier this month.
