MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker plans to veto $2.5 million for a study looking into whether to allow toll roads in Wisconsin and a provision that would have removed local oversight of rock quarries in the state. Walker says those budgets and others were agreed to Friday with the state Senate. Walker says in a statement he looks forward to signing the budget soon.

9-15-17 human trafficking bureau

The Wisconsin Attorney General has announced creation of a Wisconsin Department of Justice Human Trafficking Bureau.   Attorney general Brad Schimel says the bureau will develop a statewide strategy to identify, target and prosecute traffickers and provide assistance to victims. 9-15-17 long prison sentence for fdl man convicted of robbery

A Fond du lac man is going to prison for robbing a man at gunpoint.  Fond du Lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Jacob Soyke to nine years in prison followed by 11 years of extended supervision.    Police say Soyke was 17 years old when he went to the victim’s house, pointed a gun at the victim’s head and demanded money.

9-15-17 fdl man sentenced in drug case

A Fond du Lac man has been sentenced to prison for dealing cocaine.  Fond du lac judge Peter Grimm sentenced Kendall Ships  to three years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision for two cocaine deliveries.  He also got a year in jail for hit and run and drunken driving.  According to a criminal complaint Ships sold cocaine to undercover MEG Drug Unit investigators.

9-15-17 fdl police looking for man who fired shotgun in city

Fond  du Lac police are still looking for a man who fired a gunshot into the air earlier this week.  Police were called to a report of a man armed with a shotgun in the 500 block of South Main Street.  Assistant police chief Steve Klein says when officers arrived the man dropped the gun, fled on foot and is still at large.  Klein says police are not sure why […]

A spokesman for Wisconsin Emergency Management says some National Guard troops activated to assist relief and recovery efforts in Florida may not actually be deployed.    While some troops are already in Florida, Emergency Management spokesman Tod Pritchard says others are on stand by.  "That initial search and rescue that we were fearing we would have to respond to is less than an issue than we thought,"  Pritchard told WFDL news.
