9-15-17 fdl firefighter deployed to florida

A Fond du Lac firefighter is in Florida to help with relief efforts.  Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says firefighter/paramedic Brett Hefty has been deployed to Florida with the Wisconsin Army National Guard.  O’Leary says the fire department and city support Hefty and others who answer the call.  Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy Tom Van Buren has also been deployed to Florida with the Army National Guard.

(AP) — Foxconn Technology Group says it looks forward to making Wisconsin a "center of worldwide high-tech manufacturing."  The Taiwan-based company praised the passage Thursday of a $3 billion incentive package for the electronics giant. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — It doesn't look like any of the four senators holding out support for the state budget are backing down.  The Assembly passed the budget on Wednesday. (AP) — Four Democrats and two Republicans broke with the majorities of their parties in the Wisconsin Assembly vote over a $3 billion incentive package for Foxconn Technology Group.  The Assembly passed the bill Thursday on a 64-31 vote, sending it to Gov. 9-15-17 wi unemployment

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Unemployment in Wisconsin rose to 3.4 percent in August.  The state Department of Workforce Development reported Thursday that the rate increased from 3.2 percent in July. It remains a full point below the national unemployment rate of 4.4 percent.  The state lost 5,200 private sector jobs between July and August.

9-15-17 drive sober or get pulled over arrests

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies made nearly two dozen owi arrests during the recent Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign.  Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says officers made 22 drunken driving arrests between August 18th and September 4th.   Waldschmidt says there were 14 seat belt violations, 257 speeding tickets, 70 operating after revocation or suspension violations, two misdemeanor arrests and two warrant arrests.

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) — It was a brief taste of freedom for Joey the kangaroo who kicked his way out of a pen at a southeast Wisconsin pumpkin farm, only to be rounded up by sheriff's deputies. 9-14-17 foxconn bill headed to governor’s desk

A $3 billion incentive package for Taiwan-based Foxconn Technology Group is headed to Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker for his approval.  The Wisconsin Assembly passed the bill Thursday on a bipartisan 64-31 vote.
