MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker's job creation agency met behind closed doors to discuss a contract with Foxconn Technology Group but didn't take any action.  The company wants to build a flat-screen plant in southeastern Wisconsin. 9-29-17 nfdl school enrollment is up significantly

Enrollment is up significantly in the North Fond du Lac School District.  Superintendent Aaron Sadoff says there are 1,429 kids enrolled this school year.  That’s up  from 1355 students last school year.  Sadoff says he thinks the staff and school culture are two factors why  more students are coming to North Fond du Lac.   Sadoff says the district is also gaining students through open enrollment.

The Fond du Lac Public Library is in need of a new elevator.  One new elevator was installed when the library was renovated in 2002, but Library director Jon Mark Bolthouse says the other elevator dates back to 1966 and is at the end of its useful life.  Bolthouse says staff members have actually gotten stuck on the elevator in the past.  Funding for the elevator is included in the […]

9-29-17 eaa economic impact in fox valley

A new University of Wisconsin Oshkosh study shows that EAA Airventure has a more than $171 million economic impact on the Fox Valley.  EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski  says the EAA’s impact is greater than the U.S. Open golf tournament held in July or the Green Bay Packers. 9-29-17 new fdl bus shelters

The Fond du Lac Transit system is adding new bus shelters.  The city council has approved easements to install nine new bus shelters at various locations.  Five shelters will be new locations and four bus shelters will replace existing shelters.    The city needs easements for six locations that are on private property.  Transit says the new shelters will help them better serve customers.

9-28-17 homeless man rescued from fdl river

A homeless man escaped injury after being rescued from the Fond du Lac River.  Fire chief Pete O’Leary says fire rescue personnel pulled the man to safety on the river near Forest Avenue and Macy Street last night.   "There was a man in his 30s in the water and not able to get himself out,"  O'Leary told WFDL news.  O'Leary says the man was able to grab onto the […]

9-28-17 student testing-wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Student test results in Wisconsin held steady last year, the second under a new state testing system.  The state Department of Public Instruction released the results Wednesday.  It shows that the percentage of students scoring proficient or advanced in English language arts and math increased slightly last spring compared to the previous year.
