The Fond du Lac County Parks director says steps will be taken to address eroded trails at Hobbs Woods, including closing some trails that were not part of the original park. Parks director Sam Tobias says increased useage combined with fewer dollars for maintenance have taken a toll over the years. Tobias says work will be done to address areas of the trail that have been washed out…including a portion of the outside trail on the south end of the park. Tobias says what’s left of a detiorated staircase on a lower trail near the creek will be removed as well as an area where there used to be a boardwalk.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
