Nobody was injured in a kitchen fire at a Van Dyne residence. Shortly after 6pm Tuesday firefighters were called to a report of a stove on fire at N8992 Lakeshore Dr. in the township of Friendship. The fire was contained to the stove area of the kitchen and quickly extinguished. Damage was minor to the interior of the residence. Food left on the stove apparently started the fire.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
