todayOctober 12, 2017

The City of Fond du Lac Police Department, Drug Free Communities (DFC) of Fond du Lac County and the City of Fond du Lac Senior Center are partnering to sponsor a drug take back event, Wednesday, October 18 at the Senior Center 115 E. 1st Street, Fond du Lac from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. This event will kick off the fall Drug Drop Awareness campaign which runs until Saturday, October 28.  You are encouraged to bring your expired or no longer needed medications to the Senior Center for disposal.   “We are delighted to partner with DFC and the City of Fond du Lac Police department to offer this drug drop event,” stated Catherine Loomans, Senior Center Director.    “A drug drop off program like this helps dispose of drugs that are no longer needed in a safe way, preventing accidental overuse or abuse. This is a great convenience for the people of Fond du Lac as they don’t have to wait for a yearly collection to drop off their medications,” shared Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb and member of Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac County.    If you miss the event, you may drop your medications off at any of the 12 permanent drug drop boxes located throughout Fond du Lac County.  Nine boxes are located in the Fond du Lac area. For a listing of those locations, visit the Drug Free Communities website www.drugfreefdl.com.   The drug drop boxes located outside the Fond du Lac area are at the North Fond du Lac Police Department, 16 Garfield Street and Village of Oakfield Police Department/Village Office, 130 Main Street and Campbellsport Police Department/Village Office 470 Grandview Ave, Hayat Pharmacy, 110 W. Main Street, Campbellsport, City of Waupun Police Department, 16 E. Main St.  In addition, Rosendale Police Department, 211 North Gran Street, Rosendale, Agnesian HealthCare, 430 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac and Waupun Memorial Hospital, Agnesian HealthCare, 620 West Brown Street now have boxes available.   These boxes are available to all county residents to bring their old, expired or no longer needed prescription medications for disposal year around.  Since opening the first Drug Drop Box in the State of Wisconsin at the City of Fond du Lac Police Department on 2008 more than 19 million pills have been collected in Fond du Lac County.   Drug Free Communities is asking residents to zip through their medicine cabinets and zip down to their local Drug Drop Box(s) with medications in their original bottles and empty the bottles into a zip-lock bag (provided at the box) and deposit the drugs for disposal on or before October 28, 2017.
