todayOctober 12, 2017

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — A Wisconsin state lawmaker says his daughter’s arrest in an overdose death is another example of “the disastrous and destructive consequences” of addiction.  Rep. John Nygren of Marinette said Wednesday that his daughter, Cassandra Nygren, has struggled publicly with addiction for several years. He says her arrest “is a strong reminder of how fragile the road to recovery is.”   Nygren also extended condolences for the loss of life. In a statement, he said, “There are no words that we as a family can offer to give any real comfort for this tragic loss.”   Brown County Chief Deputy Todd Delain told USA Today Network-Wisconsin that Cassandra Nygren and a 33-year-old man were arrested in a recent drug death. Formal charges aren’t expected before Thursday.  Rep. Nygren has offered bills aimed at drugs and drug addiction over the years.
