Moraine Park Technical College is hosting its fourth annual Great Pink Pumpkin 5K Run/Walk Saturday. Day-of registrations will be accepted starting at 9 a.m. with the run/walk beginning at 10 a.m. Money raised from this event will make it possible for women battling breast cancer to attend the “Infinite Boundaries Wellness Retreat,” organized by the Breast Cancer Recovery, an organization whose mission is to provide an environment for women breast cancer survivors to heal emotionally. Additional funds are also donated towards scholarships for students dealing with breast cancer. Last year over 550 participants raised $5,000 for Breast Cancer Recovery.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
