Waupun first responders are training Wednesday for an event they hope never happens. Police, Fire and Waupun Memorial Hospital are conducting a mass casualty drill involving a simulated bus crash. Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says its important to routinely practice these scenarios so everyone knows what their specific roles will be given any unexpected situation. The simulated disaster will allow Lifestar EMS and Waupun Memorial Hospital to test their abilitie3s to serve a higher volume of patients.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
