The executive director of the Wisconsin Transportation Development Association says he’s disappointed the legislature failed to address the state’s transportation funding problem long term. Craig Thompson says a letter from DOT secretary David Ross asking the federal government to rescind their authorization to rebuld the I-94 corridor near Miller Park, “boggles the mind.” Thompson says the State budget failed to address highway maintenance in the state by cutting the state Highway Rehabilitation Program. “We kept punting in the last several budgets and things had gotten bad enough that there were a lot of assurances we would figure it out this time and pass something meaningful and fix our situation,” Thompson said. “I’d say once again we not only punted but we gave up significant yardage and then punted.” Thompson was a guest on AM 1170’s Between the Lines program.
