The Fond du Lac Public Works director says a major street reconstruction project next year will have a big impact on residents and businesses, especially near the Fairgrounds. A public information meeting was held Thursday night on the Fond du Lac Avenue project. Public Works director Jordan Skiff says Fond du Lac Avenue will be reconstructed from 6th Street to National Avenue. Skiff says the city is still deciding what to do about sidewalks. “That’s what we’re debating whether that can stay and we can focus on utility areas or whether that should be replaced,” Skiff told WFDL news. “…but there really is nothing on the west side and with the Fairgrounds and Blue Line (hockey) that does get a lot of pedestrian traffic much of the summer so thats an area where we would like to see accomodations added.” Skiff says the project is scheduled to start next spring and will be ongoing through the summer and completed about this time next fall. He says the city will work to make sure there is access to businesses on that stretch of road.
