10-27-17 school vouchers-nfdl school superintendent

todayOctober 27, 2017

The North Fond du Lac School superintendent says he doesn’t believe a private school voucher program is sustainable in the long run.  The latest figures from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction show  enrollment in the private school voucher program increased nearly eight percent this year.  North Fond du Lac School superintendent Aaron Sadoff says his main concern is that residents were never given an opportunity to weigh in.  “The whole voucher conversation never had any conversation among stakeholders.  In  Madison it was always part of the budget,”  Sadoff told WFDL news.  “We have vouchers that are continuing to grow  that are impacting local property taxpayers who have not had an opportunity to weigh in on it.”   The cost of the program is nearly $270 million, up by more than $25 million from last year.  In Fond du Lac the cost of voucher programs to taxpayers increased more than 91 percent.
