AAA is reminding motorists to slow down as kids trick or treat this weekend for Halloween. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Halloween is one of the top three days for pedestrian injuries and fatalities. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmuscz says that behooves motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution. Parents are encouraged to walk children door to door, showing them safe places to cross the street. Trick or treating will be held Saturday in Campbellsport, Fox Lake and Waupun. Several communities have trick or treating on Sunday including Beaver Dam, Lomira and Fond du lac.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
