MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. RACINE, Wis. (AP) — Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn Technology Group says it plans to locate a display screen factory in the southeastern Wisconsin village of Mount Pleasant. The exact site was announced by local officials following months of negotiations with the company and landowners. Mount Pleasant has a population of about 26,000. 10-5-17 committee okays lifting mining moratorium

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A legislative committee has approved a Republican bill that would end Wisconsin's sulfide mining moratorium.  The Senate Committee on Sporting Heritage, Mining and Forestry voted 3-2 to approve the bill Wednesday. All three Republicans on the committee voted for the bill. The two Democrats voted against it. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — State Rep. Bob Gannon, a West Bend Republican in his second term, has died.  Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke's aide, Alesha Potter, says Gannon's family informed Steineke that Gannon died Tuesday of natural causes. 10-5-17 new tornado warning sirens in waupun

New emergency outdoor warning sirens are being installed in Waupun this week.  Fire chief B.J. DeMaa says  the old sirens were installed more than 30 years ago.  DeMaa says as the new sirens are being installed residents may hear them activated at times outside of the normal.  DeMaa says Waupun has three outdoor warning sirens…often referred to as tornado sirens.

10-4-17 kitchen fire quickly extinguished

Nobody was injured in a kitchen fire at a Van Dyne residence.  Shortly after 6pm Tuesday firefighters were called to a report of a stove on fire at  N8992 Lakeshore Dr. in the township of Friendship.  The fire was contained to the stove area of the kitchen and quickly extinguished.  Damage was minor to the interior of the residence. Food left on the stove apparently started the fire.

The United States Department of Agriculture Secretary has designated seven east central Wisconsin counties as disaster areas due to crop losses from heavy rains in late June and early July.  Calumet, Fond du Lac, Winnebago, Brown, Sheboygan and Outagamie counties are included in the designation.  Calumet  County lost more than 30 percent of its strawberry crop as a result of excessive rain and flooding that kept fields underwater and soils […]
