October 28 marks the ten year anniversary of the disappearance of Stacy Peterson.   The 23 year old woman from Bolingbrook, Illinois is presumed dead, though her body has never been found.  Her husband,  Drew Peterson remains a suspect in her disappearance but has never been charged.  The 63 year old former police sergeant is serving a 38 year sentence in the 2004 death of his ex-wife Kathleen Salvo.  In an […]

10-25-17 walker calls national guard to duty for hurricane relief

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker is calling the Wisconsin National Guard emergency personnel to active duty to assist in hurricane relief.   Walker has issued an executive order activating guard members to provide medical and other assistance for victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A spokesman for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections says inmates at the state's juvenile prisons were not "testing" staff to see how they would respond during a disturbance Sunday that sent give staff members to the hospital.  Spokesman Tristan Cook says inmates confined to their rooms were damaging state property. A new food donation program has provided more than 13 hundred pounds of food to Fond  du Lac food pantries.   Downtown Fond du lac  Partnership spokeswoman Dusty Krikau says the FDL Fresh 5 program started in August.  Krikau says each week vendors share their leftover produce with local food pantries.  Krikau says the majority of food donated through the program was fresh  fruits and vegetables.

10-24-17 fdl school superintendent says private school vouchers cost fdl school district taxpayers nearly $700,000

The Fond du Lac school board has approved a 2018 budget.  Superintendent  Dr. Jim Sebert says  increased property values will result in a decrease in the projected mill rate for district taxpayers. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Enrollment in Wisconsin private school vouchers programs increased nearly 8 percent this year.   The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released totals Monday for enrollment in the programs operating statewide and in Milwaukee and Racine. Under the programs, students can receive a taxpayer-funded  voucher to attend private schools.  The 36,249 students receiving vouchers in the state is up nearly 8 percent from the 33,566 students who claimed them last year.  […]
