Fond du Lac police are investigating a suspicious substance found in a bag of Halloween candy. A Fond du Lac woman said she found two pieces of what looked like a pill inside a package of Mike and Ike’s candy. The packaging had a hole in it. Police say at this time the substance and whether it is harmful is unknown. No one was injured. The woman posted on Facebook that the candy was received during trick or treating last weekend on Park Avenue.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
