The Fond du Lac Area Transit manager says new amenities, a growing community and aging population have all contributed to a significant jump in ridership. A report from the Legislative Fiscal Bureau shows Fond du Lac Area Transit’s ridership increased nearly 10 percent from 2011 to 2015…the biggest increase in the state. Transit manager Lynn Gilles says Fond du Lac residents ride the bus for a variety of reasons including getting to work, school and for doctor appointments. Gilles she is thrilled and excited to see how ridership will grow in the years to come.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
