A Fond du Lac man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child. At a hearing last week 39 year old Emeka Hazwood pleaded no contest to two counts of third degree sexual assault of a child and causing a child to view a sex act. Police say he sexually assaulted an 11 year old girl at a North Fond du Lac residence. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for February 20th.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
