Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged apartments above a popular Van Dyne banquet hall. Firefighters were called Tuesday afternoon to a report of a fire at Marghaels Banquet Hall on Van Dyne Road. Van Dyne Fire Chief Mike Becker told WFDL news the fire was in the ceiling between floors and was contained to the residential portion of the building. The bar area of the banquet hall sustained water damage. “We’re looking at quite a bit of water damage and really not a lot of flame or smoke damage,” Becker told WFDL news. “It should be salvagable and be able to clean most of it up.” Becker says a preliminary investigation shows the fire may be electrical in nature and started in a storage area on the first floor. Apartment residents are displaced until electricity can be restored.
