A Fond du Lac County extension agent says she is pleased the governor is rejecting a proposed change to the America’s Dairyland slogan on Wisconsin license plates. Governor Scott Walker said this week its not going to happen. Fond du Lac County Dairy and Livestock extension agent Tina Coleman says the dairy industry has a major economic impact in Fond du Lac County. Fond du Lac County is the second highest milk producing county in the state.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
