11-17-17 beaver dam community hospital hosting robotic surgery open house

todayNovember 17, 2017

The BDCH Robotic Surgeons and Surgery team are celebrating over a year of successful operations utilizing the da Vinci Xi Surgical System by holding an Open House event on Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the BDCH Conference Center on the first floor of the hospital. The BDCH Robotic Surgeons and Surgery team will be on hand to answer questions about the benefits of robotic surgery, and will be giving a presentation at 6 p.m.  For years, BDCH has used laparoscopic surgical techniques whenever possible to help reduce scarring and healing time.  In 2016, the hospital acquired the da Vinci robot.  “Robotic surgery combines advanced technology with the traditional skills of experienced surgeons, with the robot acting as an extension of our eyes and hands,” said Dr. Janie Myers of BDCH Surgical Specialists. “It’s still the surgeon who’s in control and is making decisions – the robot simply gives them greater flexibility.”

Robotic surgical procedures gives surgeons an unprecedented amount of control and an advanced, three-dimensional view of the surgical field, allowing for procedures that leave fewer scars and allow for even faster healing. In fact, BDCH has announced the introduction of nearly scarless, single-site procedures, expanding the ability to get patients better without leaving noticeable, permanent scars.
