Saint Mary’s Springs Academy in Fond du Lac is celebrating another state football championship. The Ledgers rolled over Iola-Scandinavia in yesterday’s Division 6 title game 35-12. In celebration of the win, the high school campus will be closed Friday. Middle and elementary school classes will run as normal. The win comes after news broke the day before that police were called to the Pizza Ranch restaurant for a disorderly conduct complaint involving some of the Ledger football players. Three players, including one starter, did not play in the game as a result of their involvement in the incident. A restaurant manager said the players were caught stealing buffet dinners. She said the players were confronted and did eventually play.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
