The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes has officially signed an agreement to sell Fond du lac’s Agnesian Healthcare to SSM Health. Back in July the CSA and SSM Health signed a letter of intent to sell Agnesian and Monroe Clinic to SSM Health. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of the year pending regulatory approval. SSM Health is based in St. Louis with health care facilities in 18 south-central Wisconsin counties. According to a press release the decision to pursue a sponsorship transfer was initiated by CSA. The release says transfer is the result of the changes in the Wisconsin payer and provider markets, combined with the changing democraphics of the congregation. Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
