Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue is warning residents about the recall of a popular combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarm. Division Chief of Fire Prevention, Troy Haase says the Kidde alarm has been recalled due to an alarm failure. Haase says the alarm can faile to continue to chirp when it reaches its seven year end of life if the batteries are replaced, leading consumers to believe it is still working. A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
