Unemployment rates are down in the state’s largest municipalities and all 72 counties in the latest reporting period. The city of Fond du Lac’s unemployment rate in October stands at 2.6 percent, down two tenths of a percent from September. The Fond du Lac County jobless rate is down slightly from 2.5 to 2.4 percent in October. In Dodge County the jobless rate fell from 2.6 percent to 2.5 percent last month.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
