A bill has been introduced in the state legislature that focuses on training 911 dispatchers in Wisconsin, so each dispatcher can give CPR coaching over the phone. Across the state not all dispatchers are trained to provide CPR over the phone, but Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says they are here. O’Leary says its critical because a person’s chance of survival falls 10 percent with every minute that passes between cardiac arrest and CPR.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
