Drug Free Communities of Fond du Lac received more than 4,300 pounds of no longer needed prescriptions and over the counter medications during the Fall Drug Take Back collection. This is the second year in a row that the county drug drop boxes have collected in excess of two tons of medications for disposal. Fond du Lac County now has 12 drug drop boxes county-wide. The City of Fond du Lac box located at 126 N. Main Street was the first permanent drug drop box in the State of Wisconsin. Fond du Lac police chief Bill Lamb says since that drug drop box opened in 2008 Fond du Lac County has collected over 22.5 million pills for disposal.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
