MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that sets up how the state's leaders would appoint delegates to a convention of states to amend the U.S. Constitution.  Republican legislators passed a resolution this month making Wisconsin the 28th state to call for a convention to add a balanced budget amendment to the constitution. 11-27-17 firefighters prevent shed fire from spreading to barn in fdl county

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a storage shed attached to a barn near Mount Calvary.  Firefighters were called shortly before 4am Sunday to the Mark Steffes farm on County Highway G near Wolf Lake.  Mount Calvary Fire chief Greg Mueller says firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the barn.  Mueller says its fortunate the call came in when it did.  Mueller says a […]

11-27-17 rollover crash sends fdl man to the hospital with serious injuries

A rollover crash in Fond du lac County sent a 20-year-old Fond du Lac man to the hospital with serious injuries.  The crash happened early Saturday morning on Highway 175 near County Highway F.  The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office says Taylor Bresnvan was southbound on 175 when his vehicle left the road,  rolled over and struck a tree.  Bresnvan was flown by helicopter to the hospital.  The Sheriff’s […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin health officials say falls among the elderly are taking a financial and physical toll on a state that is older than most.  The state ranks second in fall-related deaths in the U.S. among those 65 and older, with a rate that's twice the nationwide average.  University of Wisconsin-Madison geriatrics professor Jane Mahoney says the fatality rate for falls has risen over the last two decades. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has launched a crash reduction effort following a spike in traffic fatalities this year.  Sheriff Dale Schmidt says  18 people have lost their lives on Dodge County roadways this year.  That’s up from 12 in 2016, and an average of 10.6 traffic fatalities from 2011 through 2015.  Schmidt says the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting increased enforcement efforts, especially in high crash areas focusing on […]

(AP) — Some Wisconsin lawmakers are pushing to change state law and allow first responders to treat pets when responding to an emergency.  Wisconsin's veterinarian practice act only allows for veterinarians to give animals aid.  Two bills are in committee in the state Legislature and would give first responders immunity for treating animals during an emergency call.
