No serious injuries were reported in several crashes on Interstate 41 in Fond du Lac County Thursday afternoon. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmidt says all of the crashes were on I-41 south of Fond du Lac between County Highways B and Y. “The snow overnight was light and fluffy and it was blowing across the highway and icing up,” Waldschmidt told WFDL news. “It started with a semi rollover near Highway B and then we had several vehicle run-offs and crashes in that same general vicinity until the Highway Department was able to get down there and lay more salt down.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
