The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Shop with a Cop program is being held Thursday evening.  The annual event will take place at Wal-Mart in Fond du Lac.   The program allows kids from low-income families to be able to buy Christmas presents.    Each child will be allowed to spend up to $50 for family Christmas presents.  High school student volunteers will assist with gift wrapping.  The kids get […]

12-13-17 fdl man convicted of robbing financial institution going to prison

A Fond du Lac man convicted of robbing a Fond du Lac business is going to prison.    Fond du Lac judge Gary Sharpe sentenced  David Haefner to four years in prison and four years extended supervision.   Haefner earlier pleaded no contest to  theft as a repeater.  Charges of robbery, theft from a financial institution and bail jumping were dismissed and read into the record.   The sentence will run consecutive to […]

12-13-17 trial date scheduled for fdl man charged with child sex assault

A trial date has been scheduled for a Fond du Lac man accused of  providing drugs to boys and sexually assaulting them.   The nearly month long trial is scheduled to begin July 9 next year for  James Rasmussen on more than 60 charges including first degree sexual assault of a child, exposing genitals to a child,  child enticement, soliciting a child for prostitution and delivery of  marijuana.   Rasmussen is being […]

12-13-17 hefty cash bail set for fdl man charged with child sex assault

Bail has been set at $100,000 cash for a Fond du Lac man accused of sexually assaulting two young girls.   Forty one year old Anthony Wienke made his initial Fond du Lac court appearance this week on two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child.  He is accused of  having sexual contact with two girls, ages eight and ten.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 21.

12-13-17 winter weather advisory dropped for fdl and dodge counties

Good news for motorists, the National Weather Service has dropped a winter weather advisory for Dodge and Fond du Lac counties.  National Weather Service meteorologist Tim Halbach says the storm system that was initially expected to dump several inches of snow in our listening area is farther to the northeast than originally forecast.  Halbach says there is still a chance for an inch or two of snow this afternoon.

12-13-17 public works crews ready

The Fond du Lac Public Works director says crews are ready for the winter season.    Residents got a taste of it this weekend with light snow Friday and Monday morning and significant snow Wednesday.    Public Works director Jordan Skiff says there is plenty of road salt ready to go.  Skiff says the department also uses a brine solution to help keep city streets free of  snow and ice.
