The historic Elks Lodge in downtown Fond du Lac is being sold. Fond du Lac based Modtruss.com is purchasing the building at 33 Sheboygan Street with plans to relocate its corporate office there. Company president Patrick Santini tells WFDL news that final closing on the sale is expected shortly. Amy Hansen is the executive director of the Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership. “I am very excited about Modtruss buying the Elks Club,” Hansen told WFDL news. “I think there is great opportunity for Modtruss to get involved in the downtown.” The former Elks Lodge was built in 1904. ModTruss, Inc. offers a large array of customizable truss components and accessories designed for both long-term building and re-use, building stages and platforms for many events including the NFL and Major League baseball.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
