A Fond du Lac company will again have a big presence at this year’s Super Bowl. Modtruss vice president Steve Weltin says four semi-trucks left Fond du Lac this week for Minneapolis with material to build broadcast platforms and stages outside U.S. Bank stadium. “The product has been around for about nine years, Modtruss, since 2014, but we’ve been directly or indirectly involved with the Super Bowl for about nine of them,” Weltin told WFDL news. Weltin has been with the company from the beginning with founder Patrick Santini. He describes the product as a giant Erector or Lego set. “Modtruss is a universal building component and that’s a fancy way of saying its an adult erector set,” Weltin said. There couldn’t be an easier comparison to what the product is than thinking back to an Erector set or Legos.” Meanwhile Modtruss is moving corporate its offices to the Elks Lodge in downtown Fond du lac with final closing on the sale expected soon. “We really want to embrace the character of the building, and absolutely the bowling alley is staying and absolutely the bar is staying.” Weltin says the plan calls for a community space, possibly a coffee shop.
