An autopsy has determined that a Fond du Lac woman died from hypothermia trying to walk to shore on Lake Winnebago. Sheriff’s captain Ryan Waldschmiddt says 27 year old Lindsey Klima was at a New Year’s Eve party on the lake when for some reason started walking toward the shore where her body was found several hours later. Waldschmidt says Klima was not dressed for the cold, wearing only a light jacket.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
