The Fond du lac Area United Way is making a last minute plea for donations. Director Amber Kilawee says the fund drive is at 85 percent of the $670,000 goal. People can make donations through the end of the month. “Anybody who hasn’t given yet, we really need you,” Kilawee told WFDL news. “Last year at this time we were at 92 percent of our goal.”

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
