A Fond du Lac man was rescued after getting stuck on Lake Winnebago. The Fond du lac County Sheriff’s Office says shortly before 2:30 am Sunday 42 year old Christopher Freund called the Dispatch Center indicating that he was lost on Lake Winnebago in the area of Garden Dr. Rescue personnel located Freund approximately ¼ mile off shore. He was carried off the ice and transported by ambulance to St. Agnes Hospital where he is receiving treatment for exposure. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the incident. The Sheriff’s Office says the wind chill was below zero and Freund was not dressed for extended exposure to the cold.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
