The Fond du lac School board has updated its anti-harrassment policy to include transgender students. At their meeting Monday night the board voted in favor of a policy that includes gender identity and transgender status. Superintendent Dr. Jim Sebert says the changes were included after a group of high school students approached the board last year asking for their support for transgender students. “I don’t want this to seem as if this is a pervasive within the Fond du Lac School District or in Fond du lac High School,” Sebert told WFDL news. “The way we have attacked it to try and treat every child with respect.” Sebert says the district has also addressed the students’ concerns to let transgender students to use the bathroom that corresponds with their gender identity. He says there are two gender-neutral bathrooms at the school.
