The public is invited to a listening session Tuesday night to discuss the future of Hobbs Woods. County Parks director Sam Tobias says the meeting is designed to receive public feedback on the county’s most popular park and create a to do list for grounds and maintenance issues. Tobias says work has already taken place to repair wooden bridges in the front and back of the park and installing water bars to divert runoff and prevent erosion on certain areas of the trail. He says work is also needed on the park’s prairie. The meeting starts at 6pm Tuesday at the city county government center.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
