A Fond du Lac man convicted of killing a pet cat is going to prison. Fond du Lac Judge Robert Wirtz sentenced Preston Buck to a total of four and a half years in prison on multiple charges including mistreatment of animals causing death and bail jumping. Buck told police he kicked the cat because it knocked over a lamp. The cat was brought to the animal shelter where it was euthanized:

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
