An Oshkosh man convicted in connection with a violent domestic incident in Fond du Lac is going to prison. Fond du Lac judge Dale English sentenced Anthony Vera to five years in prison and five years extended supervision. Vera earlier entered an Alford plea to a charge of third degree sexual assault and no contest to misdemeanor battery. Eight other charges were dismissed and read into the record.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
